Pinpoint Tests

PINPOINT TEST DK: ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION (APP) SENSOR
Introduction

NOTE: After clearing the APP sensor DTC to verify a repair or an intermittent concern, apply the accelerator pedal before carrying out the self-test. Take 10 seconds to carry out a full sweep of the accelerator pedal from fully released to fully applied and back to fully released.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Refer to the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
PCM P060D:00 Internal Control Module Accelerator Pedal Position Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects a concern identifying an issue with an APP sensor signal or with processing the brake pedal sensor input. This DTC sets when an error occurs in the PCM . Verify the PCM is at the latest calibration level.
PCM P1575:00 Pedal Position Out Of Self Test Range: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects either the APP1 or APP2 input is greater than the expected value. The PCM monitors the APP sensor inputs to determine if the APP1 and APP2 signals are less than an expected value during the KOEO self-test. Make sure the floor mat is not interfering with the accelerator pedal. Repeat the self-test without applying the accelerator pedal. Diagnose any APP sensor circuit Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first.
PCM P2122:00 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'D' Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the accelerator pedal position 1 (APP1) is out of self-test range low.
PCM P2123:00 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'D' Circuit High: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the accelerator pedal position 1 (APP1) is out of self-test range high.
PCM P2127:00 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'E' Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the accelerator pedal position 2 (APP2) is out of self-test range low.
PCM P2128:00 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'E' Circuit High: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the accelerator pedal position 2 (APP2) is out of self-test range high.
PCM P2138:00 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'D'/'E' Voltage Correlation: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the APP sensor inputs APP1 and APP2 disagree on the position of the accelerator pedal by greater than an expected value. The PCM compares the APP sensor information from APP1 and APP2 signals.

Possible Sources

  • Accelerator pedal applied during KOEO self-test
  • PCM programming
  • APP sensor (9F836)
