Lincoln Navigator: Front Seats / Front Head Restraint Guide Sleeve. Removal and Installation

General Equipment
Removal
NOTE:
Driver seat shown, passenger seat similar.

Remove the front seat.
Refer to: Front Seat (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).
Seats with power head restraint
-
Remove the front head restraint.
Refer to: Front Head Restraint (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).

Detach the power head restraint electrical connector.
-
Release the LH head restraint guide sleeve locking tab.
-
Slide the LH head restraint guide sleeve up.
-
On both sides.
Release the locking tabs.

Slide the power head restraint electrical connector down.
-
NOTE:
Do not reuse the head restraint guide sleeves.
Remove and discard the power head restraint guide sleeves.

Remove and discard the LH power head restraint guide sleeve.
-
Release the RH locking tab.
-
Remove and discard the RH head restraint guide sleeve.
Seats with manual head restraint
-
Release the back panel straps from the seat track.
-
If equipped with video display.
Remove the video display.
Refer to: Video Display (415-00 Information and Entertainment System -
General Information - Vehicles With: SYNC 4, Removal and Installation).

NOTICE:
The back panel finish can be easily marred or torn, use care when working around it.
On both sides, grasp the back panel where it meets
the module trim, pull to release the clips and separate the back panel
from the module trim.

On both sides, using the interior trim remover,
place it in between the plastic substrate and the clip, pry and detach
the module clips from the back panel windows.
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

Pull out at the bottom, release the clips and detach the back panel from the backrest frame.

Pull out at the sides of the back panel.
-
Pull down and out and remove the back panel.
-
Depress the locking tabs and remove the manual head restraint.

NOTE:
Do not reuse the head restraint guide sleeves.
Remove and discard the manual head restraint guide sleeves.
-
Release the locking tabs.
-
Remove and discard the manual head restraint guide sleeves.
Installation
NOTICE:
Always install new head restraint guide sleeves. Difficult
adjustment of the head restraint may occur. Failure to follow these
instructions may result in component failure.
NOTICE:
The head restraint guide sleeves are not interchangeable.
Failure to install the correct head restraint guide sleeves at the
correct position may result in component failure.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
