Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

If equipped.

Remove the retainers and remove the transmission housing cover.
Torque:
71 lb.in (8 Nm)

If equipped.
-
Remove the skid plate bolts and remove the skid plate.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)
-
Remove the LH exhaust heat shield bolt from the transmission crossmember.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)
-
Remove the bolts from the transmission crossmember and position the wiring harness aside.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)
-
Remove the RH exhaust heat shield bolts from the transmission crossmember.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)
-
Remove the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
-
Remove the retainer nuts and heatshield.
Torque:
80 lb.in (9 Nm)

NOTE:
Make sure the transmission jack makes contact on the outer ribs of the transmission fluid pan.
Using a high-lift transmission jack, support the front of the transmission.
Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

Remove and discard the transmission support crossmember nuts and bolts.
Torque:
76 lb.ft (103 Nm)

Remove and discard the transmission mount nuts and remove the transmission support crossmember.
Torque:
85 lb.ft (115 Nm)
Installation
-
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
