Removal
NOTICE:
Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the
performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners
may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if
replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser
quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

Remove the wheel and tire.
Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

Remove and discard the upper ball joint nut.

NOTE:
Be sure not to damage the ball joint boot when installing the Ball Joint Separator.
Separate the upper ball joint from the wheel knuckle.
Use Special Service Tool: 204-592/1
Adapter for 204-592.

Remove and discard the upper arm-to-frame bolt, washer, camber set shim and flagnut.
Installation

NOTE:
Only tighten the nuts and bolts finger tight at this stage.
Install the upper arm and install the new upper arm-to-frame bolt, washer and flagnut.

Position the upper arm into the wheel knuckle.

NOTE:
Only tighten the nut finger tight at this stage.
Install the new upper arm nut.

Install the wheel and tire.

Lower the vehicle so that the weight of the vehicle is on the wheel and tire assemblies.

Tighten the upper arm-to-wheel knuckle nut.
Torque:
46 lb.ft (63 Nm)

Tighten the upper arm-to-frame bolt.
Torque:
166 lb.ft (225 Nm)

Check and if necessary adjust rear camber.
