Lincoln Navigator: Rear Climate Control / Rear Heater Core Inlet Line. Removal and Installation

Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE:
The rear heater core inlet line is installed from the
factory as a one-piece assembly. The replacement part is supplied as a
separate kit containing multiple-piece lines for ease of installation.

Drain the cooling system.
Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding

Procedures).

Remove the spare tire.
-
Remove the RH front fender splash shield.
Refer to: Fender Splash Shield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

Remove the RH rear wheel and tire.
Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

Remove the muffler.
Refer to: Muffler (309-00 Exhaust System - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS), Removal and Installation).

Remove the RH catalytic converter.

Remove the bolts and lower the heat shield.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Remove the bolts and the heat shield.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Remove the bolts and the heat shield.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Remove the bolts and the heat shield.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Remove the bolts and the heat shield.
Torque:
177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Disconnect the quick release coupling.
Refer to: Quick Release Coupling (310-00 Fuel System - General Information - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS), General Procedures).

Release the clip and detach the rear heater core inlet line.

Remove the bracket cover.
-
Remove the bolt and bracket.
Torque:
44 lb.in (5 Nm)
-
Remove the nut and bracket.
Torque:
44 lb.in (5 Nm)
-
NOTE:
Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Disconnect the quick release couplings from the rear heater core.
Refer to: Quick Release Coupling (310-00 Fuel System - General Information - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS), General Procedures).

Release the rear heater core inlet line.
-
Remove the nut and bracket.
Torque:
44 lb.in (5 Nm)
-
Release the rear heater core line and A/C line.
-
Remove the nut, bracket and release the rear heater core inlet line.
Torque:
44 lb.in (5 Nm)
-
Remove the nut and bracket.
Torque:
44 lb.in (5 Nm)
-
Assemble and lay out the replacement line in the same
position as the existing line and, using a suitable tool, cut the line
in the same position as the fittings on the new line.
Use the General Equipment: Grinder

Remove the rear heater core inlet line.
-
Remove the rear heater core inlet line.
Installation
NOTE:
Loosely connect, but do not tighten the fittings until the
rear heater core inlet line brackets have been installed and the nuts
have been torqued.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
-
Fill and bleed the cooling system.

NOTE:
If a heater core leak is suspected, the heater core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.
