Lincoln Navigator: Fuel Charging and Controls - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS) / Throttle Body. Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTICE: The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.

1. Remove the engine appearance cover retainers, release the engine appearance cover from the rear retaining tabs on the intake manifold, then remove the engine appearance cover.
   

1. Remove the charge air cleaner outlet pipe RH.
   Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH (303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS), Removal and Installation).
   

1. Loosen the clamp, then disconnect the charge air cooler outlet pipe and move it out of the way..
   

1. NOTE: When disconnecting the throttle body electrical connector disengage the red locking tab on the throttle body electrical connector by sliding it to the rear of the throttle body electrical connector, away from the throttle body. Squeeze the throttle body electrical connector while removing.

   Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector.
   

1. Remove the throttle body bolts, then remove the throttle body.
   

Installation

1. NOTICE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

1. Inspect the throttle body gasket, clean and replace the throttle body gasket as needed.
   

1. Install the throttle body, then install and tighten the throttle body bolts in the following 2 stages.
   Torque:
     Stage 1:  89 lb.in (10 Nm)
     Stage 2:  90°

1. NOTE: When connecting the throttle body electrical connector engage the red connector locking tab after fully installing the throttle body electrical connector. The red tab will not slide forward unless the throttle body electrical connector is fully installed.

   Connect the throttle body electrical connector.
   

1. NOTICE: The hose end must contact the hose stop.

   NOTE: When installing the pipe, line up the alignment marks on the pipe and on the throttle body.

   Install the charge air cooler outlet pipe, then tighten the charge air cooler outlet pipe clamp.
   Torque: 44 lb.in (5.0 Nm)

1. Install the charge air cleaner outlet pipe RH.
   Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH (303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 3.5L EcoBoost (272kW/370PS), Removal and Installation).
   

1. Install the engine appearance cover into the rear retain tabs on the intake manifold, then install and tighten the engine appearance cover retainers.
   Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

1. Road test the vehicle.
